Journal Entry #15 - Giving Thanks

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, here are five things we are grateful for.

1. Our Community

What started this all, and what continues to drive us forward everyday. In the wake of a tragedy, the Altadena-Pasadena community has shined so bright, like a lighthouse guiding people home. We are thankful not only to know this community, but to be a part of it too.

2. Our Team

20+ pre-approved designs and many more in the works, 100+ homeowner consultations, and partners across several sectors and disciplines. The Foothill Catalog would not be what it is today without our incredible team - staff & volunteers alike. We are thankful for the people who give so much of themselves to advance our mission every single day.

3. Our Supporters

We are fortunate to have grant funding and donations that sustain our programs and our team, allowing us to fully dedicate ourselves to this work. We are deeply grateful for every donor and organization that believes in us, believes in this idea, and helps us to pave a more equitable path to rebuilding after natural disaster.

4. Our Partners

They say if you want to go fast, go alone - but if you want to go far, go together. Together with our partners, we've come a long way (and pretty fast, too)! From San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity and our Altadena Revealed co-hosts, to the organizations in the Eaton Fire Collaborative - and to the design community across the country that has contributed to the Catalog - we are grateful to be part of this village.

5. Hope

Heading into the end of the year, and soon, the one year anniversary of the fire, it's not possible to approach the holiday season with the same lightness as years past. But what we do feel is hope, with every new pre-approval, every new permit pulled, every step forward. We are thankful for each glimpse of optimism reflected back at us, like the lights that will soon shine along Christmas Tree Lane for the 105th year.

Last but not least, thank you for being here with us! Wishing you a peaceful start to the holiday season ahead.
