Journal Entry #17 - From Us, to You and Yours

As we close out the year and approach the one-year anniversary of the Eaton and Palisades Fires, we’ve found ourselves reflecting on a wide range of emotions.

Sadness, for all that was lost.

Gratitude, for the way this community came together in the face of profound loss - to imagine, build, and implement real solutions - and for the support The Foothill Catalog has received throughout this year.

Hope, as we continue moving toward progress, recovery, and long-term resilience.

Just to name a few.

While there have been moments of beauty born out of tragedy, it has undeniably been a difficult year. So we hope that wherever you are, this season brings you moments of rest, comfort, peace, and light.

A couple updates to close out the year:

New Designs Added

The Cabrillo and The Charmant have officially been added to the Catalog - you may remember them from the concept phase. These designs feature a 4 bed, 3 bath, 2,400 sqft layout with a large internal courtyard, drawing inspiration from Spanish Revival and Norman Revival styles.

On The Boards

We’re currently updating our On the Boards page to reflect the next 10 designs in development and aim to have this refreshed shortly after the new year.

January Remembrance & Community Events

In the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing and amplifying events taking place on and around January 7th. To begin, here are two events happening on Sunday, January 4th:

  • Altadena Forever Run - hosted in partnership with the Los Angeles Sheriff Athletic Association

  • With Us - Walk With LA Survivors Through Sight, Sound, and Story - hosted by the Department of Angels

A great resource to stay up to date on everything going on this week is LA Rises: Week of Action.

TFCF Print

The Architectural Vernacular of the Foothills 11x17 Print is still available for purchase. We’ll also continue to gift a print to a fire survivor, and the gifted print form will remain open through the end of this month. Orders & gifted print requests received over the next week will be fulfilled in the new year - thank you for your understanding!

Holiday Schedule

Many of our team members will be on break between 12/25-1/2, so responses may be delayed during this time. Still - if you have any questions - be sure to reach out and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can. We look forward to seeing many of you in the new year and to continuing the work of building a more equitable and attainable path to recovery for all.

The new dawn blooms as we free it.

For there is always light,

if only we’re brave enough to see it.

If only we’re brave enough to be it.

The Hill We Climb, Amanda Gorman (2021)

Until Next Time,
