Journal Entry #26 - The Work Continues
The process of rebuilding, much like the story of the Foothill Catalog itself, is made up of many small steps. While not every milestone happens publicly, each one represents meaningful progress toward helping families return home.
This month, we’re sharing a few updates from across the Catalog—from new pre-approved plans and designs in progress to construction milestones and upcoming community events.
Foothill Catalog Snapshot
A few highlights from across TFCF:
70 pre-approved designs available across LA County and the City of Los Angeles
39 Foothill Catalog structures actively under construction
96 families have selected Foothill Catalog home designs for their rebuilds
273 homeowner consultations completed
We also regularly welcome homeowners to visit our demonstration homes currently under construction in Altadena. These walkthroughs provide an opportunity to see Foothill Catalog designs in progress and ask questions about the process.

Rediscovering Home: A Story of Altadena
In partnership with Autodesk, we recently produced a short video series sharing the story behind the Foothill Catalog Foundation—how this work began, the technology that helps power it, and most importantly, the experiences of homeowners navigating the rebuilding process.
As architects and members of this community, our goal at the Foothill Catalog has always been to use our skills and expertise to help create a clearer path home.
“A home is a family's largest asset, but it's also their most emotional asset. For the Foothill Catalog to help families who lost everything—to provide the opportunity for them to rediscover home—is a really incredible opportunity for us as architects and members of this community.”
Newly Pre-approved and Coming Soon!
We’re excited to announce new pre-approvals in LA County:
The Cabrillo & The Charmant (2,417 SF | 4 bed, 3 bath)
The Garfield, Chester, & El Sereno ADUs - Vertical & Horizontal Orientations (399 SF | 1 bed/ Studio Option, 1 bath)
These ADUs expand the Catalog’s options for homeowners looking to add flexible living space, rental income, or accommodate multigenerational households.
And in development for Altadena:
The Elisha, Cindy, and La Maria (1,370 SF | 3 bed, 2 bath)

A Catalog for the Pacific Palisades
Over the past several months, our team has been developing a new collection of designs for the Pacific Palisades. These designs are being shaped by lot conditions, zoning requirements, HOA guidelines, neighborhood character, and—most importantly—the feedback we've received from Palisades homeowners and community members.
We’ll be sharing these designs soon, and they’ll be featured at our upcoming Pacific Palisades Design Showcase on August 22 at the Pali Hub.

Updates From the Field
One of the best parts of this work is watching designs move from drawings into homes. This month, we celebrated several major milestones, with dozens of homes now moving through construction.
A few highlights from our camera roll:
Groundbreaking with the Evans Family & the SGV Habitat for Humanity team! A “Glen” will be coming soon to this site.
The (first) Billy coming soon.
Three different “Lewis” homes at different stages of construction: framing, drywall, finishes
